I’ll say it again
Do not work for a Temp company on unemployment. It will cause you such a heartache and headache..
Save your documentation per email and phone logs on cell phone. Print it out. Set up your sent option on email.
Remain friendly or civil to the UC workers. When you are called by UC worker do not divulge any extra information such as sick, pending surgery or attention to goto school.. This will flag your account.
God is in control! I pray my sanity will maintain in these times.

July 2009
*singing* My name is Prince.. I am funky..
Ok, I dont know why that song popped in my head? But, I had to type it.
July 1, 2008, I was laid off. Here it is July 2009. It’s been a yr. What has changed? Financially challenged?Yes? Still Smart and Beautiful? Yes oh and Hell Yes? (Fatter too!!) lol
I work a part time job. I’m in the process of going to LPN school. I let God drive.. I’m just riding “shot gun” with him. I’m thankful! I’ve had some tears, screams and laughs in this yr.
Things have really changed in this economy. I’m really curious. What will be the outcome of this “mass destruction” called the recession.
But I keep striving for the top! *singing* While your moma say .. give it all you got.. aint no half stepping!!!

adult
Well being an adult sucks!, somedays. I’ve sd it once.. I’ll say again..
Where have I been?
*clicking my Salvation Army red ruby slippers*
I remember that I was volunteering in Winter 08. I told this lady about my laid off status. She said well you need to be prepare to lose an apartment, lose a car or lose… (fill in blank).. I raised my eyebrow and said “hmm”
I lost my internet access at home. lol
I’m holding onto the other things tho’.
Currently, I am working as a part time temp collector. I’m not hard core as some. I’m in no position to “ack” a fool with anyone. I know, I have my own issues with my bills. I let the customer x,y,x and go thru the script. Yea or nay, they can the bill with me. As of yet, no one has cussed me out. Maybe, they have hung up on me. But it’s no big deal to me!
Currently, I’m trying to find another part time or full time job. Funny, how they are plenty of part time jobs. These companies want to pay low pay and expect full time part time.

Document
Document! Document!
*sigh*
I had an unemployment phone hearing. Why? The temp service, I had worked for appeal the decision. The temp service said I had separated from them. Huh? Initially, they reported me as working for them in the wrong month.
Lessons from this experience:
1. If you are let go from the temp assignment or agency, Call or email the temp staffer the next day.
Luckily, I had called and emailed the temp staffer. The actual day and day after the event, I had contact the temporary agency.
2. Document the time and who you spoke to at the temporary agency. Each time
3. If you are sending emails, Use your sent function on your email acct.
I have a professional, junk and personal email accts. The sent function is your friend. I was able to print screen all my emails to the temp agency.
4. Phone records. If you use your cell phone as your primary phone, It is best to obtain your copies of your cell phone providers website. You can use it as documentation of your calls to the temp agency.
4. Medical records. If you call off ill, you might want to goto a dr for a note. If you have a chronic illness, you might want to provide documentation of the illness.
5. Job records. Have a record of all the jobs that you worked after the temp assignment.
6. Instinct: If you have a bad instinct about the temp agency, back away quick and in a hurry. I did not follow my instinct with this agency or the assignment.
Did I say document everything?
When I meet other folks who are unemployed or know someone unemployed.
Some people are telling horror stories of dealing with temp agencies and unemployment. Other folks are avoiding them like the plague. I cant say What is right or wrong in dealing with a temp agency? I would recommend being cautious. Jobs are so scarce. Yes, it’s true an unemployment check is not grand. But, it can tie you over till a real or semi real job comes along.
I’ve been asking folks in HR or other temp agencies. Why are temp agencies being scandalous, lately? It comes down to money, C.R.E.A.M
*singing* Cash Rules Everything Around Me
Temp agencies are receiving less business and do not want to pay out funds. Most of the time, unemployed person do not respond to the notice or call. Rather, you have documentation or not.. Show up! Answer the phone. Be truthful!
I’m supposed to receive a notice in 2 days about the hearing outcome. Prayerfully, it will be positive in my favor.
Peace and Blessings to everyone affected by this recession.

temp companies
and unemployment…
Recently, I learned a lesson. It could have been a real mess. If I would not have took some precautions. I have a professional and a personal email. My professional email has the sent option activate on it. It saves each email.
Each temp agency reports to unemployment that you are a new hire upon registration. Even if you never receive a job thru them, it red flags unemployment as a possible fraud. I had to prove that I never work for agency. I actually register with them. Also, another temp company had me as new hire, way after the fact! Red Flag again!
I have to report weekly to temp agency or have my unemployment benefits denied.
This is where documentation falls in line. I had my documentation in the email sent files. It provide the date and time that I report my weekly availability. This save me.
Lesson learned from this ordeal. I need to create a spreadsheet with phone calls to temp agencies and keep my email sent file on backup.

12kph
I sent off an email to temp agency about a job advertisement. The temp person responded your registered with us. Your keystrokes per hour (kph) is 8,000. Can I resend you the data entry test? Sure! Why not? I took the test over. I performed 10,000 keystrokes per hour. I am not qualified for the job b/c the client wants 12kph. This is ridiculous. I’m not killing my hands/wrist to bang out on the keyboard. Would this client seriously think that I would perform 12kph on a daily? Pish! Get bent!

whew!
I spoke with 3 or more people who worked the Superbowl. They had the same thought as me. Hell no! I dont want to do it again. Mebbe, I would not work in the same capacity. I would try a different customer service role.
Pure chaos! The best made plans went out the door.
I enjoyed seeing families at the event. They were making memories and having fun!
I saw celebs and notables. Ooh and ah!
At the end my feet hurt incredibly. I was exhausted by it. .

temping again
I am temping again. It’s a different temp company. Just data entry. IT’s funny. I wanted to work again. So, I started over at some temp agencies.
One agency told me that I would have to do the process all over. Are you freakin’ kidding me? I think, this same agency has told me the same thing in 2008. I was like hell naw! I aint doing all of it over. To me its annoying to do typing test, data entry test and software test. I’m not feeling it.
I do the tests over. She said Well I might have something for you. I sd ok! wow something change to .. you work tonite!
Interesting, When I first came to this office in 2005. They had 3 staffing agent in the office. Now, they one person who runs the office. No receptionist! Nothing extra! I thought.. a sign of the times.
Maybe these small boutique temp agencies are the way to go! They have jobs, obviously. hmm

This economy sucks
I’ve called or emailed two temp agencies. They have let go two of their staffing coordinators. Wow! One was very nice. The other one was ok.
I called in availability to other temp agencies. One staff coordinator was bleakin voice.. I was like wow! Can you sound less depressing?
I called another agency. The staffing mgr answered the phone. He asked me. How is your individual search? Huh? I told him that the economy sucks in all facets. I asked him. when do u think it will rebound? He thinks it will rebound in some months. Hmm
