Today, I woke at 5am. I had a headache. I guess i was ready for the day to begin and end.  I arrived at work 2 minutes late.  Uggh! I log on my phones. The calls begin immediately. These  folks are angry. Let me mention I take insurance claim calls for Hurricane Fay, Gustav and Ike.  Folks are mad at hell at this insurance co. Adjusters personalities range from nice to rude. Things are not moving quickly enough for insured.

I received my last call today. It was a Black couple  Sadly, they had damage to their home from the hurricane. The  next week after the ‘cane, house was destroyed by fire. So, I am being overly helpful with this couple. He asks about his check.  The wife is in the background with her input.

As I listen to them. It sounded like a “In Living color” skit.  Mister yells to the Mrs. I told you this morning that you be running up in the  conversation, half cocked. As they are arguing. I’m using his information to find the claim.  I told him. It’ll be ok!

He says Ma’am I’m not yelling at you!

I replied .. Oh I know you not yelling  at me. *giggles*

So, I gave him information about his claim. It made him, happy.

He calms down.

I said You do know about those Grits! right!

He says Huh? Grits. Whitchyo (his word, not mine) talking about Grits

I replied You know about Al Green and Grits *giggles*

He replies.. We dont have no Grits up in here..

I giggled again!

I said you dont know … what you know .. till you know.. *giggles*

He’s quiet now.. Ma’am What is your name?

I gave my name.   He starts to laugh at my clues. I cant really say  to him to chill with his wife.  I am being monitor by somebody .. somewhere.. lol

I said you read those stories in the paper, right. (If you read online papers in the heavily hit IKE areas,  folks are snapping left and right.. even the Police)

He replied Oh! yeah.. He laughs and thanks me! I told them to be sweet and patient  with  each other .. Thank you for calling!

I’m glad that i was able to defuse the situation.  Was it professional? Nah! But it calmed the parties down. They receive some good news about their situation.

Sadly, Money rules everything in the world. For some, it can make life unpleasant.   Try to remember Love and Grace in these days and times!
